Researchers at MIT are developing a new process for recharging lithium ion batteries that may allow us to recharge them in just three seconds. MIT scientists are revamping the structure of batteries commonly used in cell phones, laptop computers, and portable gaming systems, using clumps of nanoparticles and mixing in carbon and other substances.

Ion lithium batteries are also used to power electric cars, which means the speedy process will result in vehicles that can be ready to go again much more quickly than the current models.
