Many families take the time at the holidays to participate in a good service project. If you are one of these families but haven’t decided what this year’s project will be, here are a few ideas to help get the creativity flowing:

All that loose change you have lying around can be put to good use. Either donate the change or use it fund a bigger project.

Don’t forget the seniors. Many seniors now live in low-income housing with little or no family around. Plan to spend the day in one of these homes and deliver baked goods, sing Christmas carols or even make a dinner for the building.

Sub for Santa by adopting a family for Christmas.

Volunteer to be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.

Help someone in your neighborhood who is no longer able to put up their own Christmas decorations.

Organize a group of families to accompany your own family on a neighborhood caroling night. Stick to your own neighborhood, visit local nursing homes or hospitals.

If none of these strike a spark, you can always use the Internet to research some other options.
