As we age we work hard at keeping ourselves looking and feeling younger. Sometimes we look too hard with fancy, expensive lotions and potions when the answer is right in front of us. The role of nutrition in anti-aging is key, and yet it is overlooked far too often.

There is no fountain of youth – there is only healthy eating. It’s important that you don’t wait until your 50’s when you are starting to show signs of aging and then try feverishly to work backward. Instead, you should start eating right in your 20’s and make it a lifestyle choice. You will be rewarded with healthier, younger looking skin.
Antioxidants are important in combating aging, and we can find these in the fresh fruits and vegetables that we eat. When you feed your body the correct essential nutrients you will significantly slow the rate at which you age. When you are in your 60’s people will think you are in your 50’s. When you are in your 50’s you’ll be mistaken as a sibling of your children rather than a parent.

Your body also needs the necessary vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These can be found by eating fresh fruits and vegetables and avoiding the foods that are bad for you. Try to avoid processed food at all costs – these foods have little nutritional value and are packed with chemicals. You should also try to avoid fast food as the same applies.

When necessary nutrients are missing from your diet, your body is unable to remove the toxins that we gather throughout the day in our environment, in the products we use, in the bad foods we eat – these toxins cause wear and tear to our bodies. When we feed our bodies healthy foods these toxins can be removed from your body. When you eat poorly they cannot be removed and you begin to age faster.

Nutrition is key to anti-aging. So rather than wasting your money on the latest anti-aging creams and potions, why not just start eating healthier?
